Generally, the mechitzah will
stay clean with only a light dusting. Please avoid using cleansers
on the mirrored elements! Fingerprints and smudges can be removed
easily from the mirrored sections by gently wiping with a soft,
slightly damp cloth. A drop of mild soap can be added to the water
for the cloth, if needed.
You may apply a good quality
furniture wax every year or so to the wood if you desire, depending
on how often the pieces are handled. The lacquer finish is
water-resistant and quite durable. It can, however, be damaged by
very hot or very cold liquids, alcohol, and some solvents. In
general, It is beneficial to keep the mechitzah sections away from
direct sunlight as much as possible.
